Reunions

5/1/14

Here we are, again…

the long, weary walks

through the swirling sands of our stories

are once more colliding

here today,

as these poor pilgrims meet in this place.

And I’m sitting here, and listening

to the weary travelers’ tales

of the things you’ve seen,

the wounds you’ve received

and the graces painful to behold…

And now I see

the hidden streams

running deep underneath all our sand dunes

as they collide, once again

in the river that flows from His heart.

And this is Life.

This is Grace.

To be able to say that there’s life where we’re broken

this is Love.

This is Truth:

To be able to thank for the years of aloneness

Because they’ve taught us

what communion means

Here we meet again…

And I witness the work

that the Lord has done in your story

and let this encounter

here today

restore hope to my own weary way

And I’m sitting here, receiving

The story of the years that I’ve missed

these sorrowful joys

the joy-filled sorrows

The scars that mercy has redeemed…

And now I see

the hidden streams

running deep underneath all our sand dunes

as they collide, once again

in the river that flows from His heart.

And this is Life.

This is Grace.

To be able to say that there’s life where we’re broken

this is Love.

This is Truth:

To be able to thank for the years of aloneness

Because they’ve taught us

what communion means

These riverlets running

they gladden our hearts

gladden the hearts of the children of God

Binding our lives into one as they run

into the ocean of mercy…
